Delicious
I'm still playing with this one. I can see the advantages of having all of your favourites sitting in one place instead of having some listed at home, some at work and in some cases on 2-3 PC's at work if you happen to be working on another PC. I think I'm a bit deterred about the amount of work involved in setting it up initially with the tags.

iGoogle
You could spend hours on this just adding all of those snipets of the web you want to have a quick look at. Deciding on my background theme was probably the most difficult part of this excercise.
Would I like to work for Google - who wouldn't. All I could think of after I watched the youtube video was - free food!!

Google book
This is great if you need a sneak peek at a book before you buy - as long as it has a preview. It is handy that it provides you with a link to major booksellers, so you can buy it straight away if you want.
Is Google the new Microsoft - quite possibly and it's something that's freely available to anyone in the world, which is an added bonus

Google Docs
I was quite impressed with this tool. It would be very handy to use if you moved around a lot and you needed access to the same documents. Also if you worked from home. You wouldn't have worry about loosing your USB drive. As long as you had access to the internet, it's like having your own 'My documents' anywhere at anytime. I also thought it was useful that you could save files as PDF's

Google maps - again
Well, I had to see if I could get this to work and I did. I managed to embed a Google map image into my blog. It took a couple of tries. The map below shows you where I work. I found my home and zoomed in on it using the satelite image - got fairly close before it couldn't zoom in any more.
I find this tool very useful, especially if I need to get around the city and I need to find a place I'm supposed to go to

RSS feeds
Well I've set up my Google reader and set up 6 feeds. I think it will be useful for both work and personal use. I like checking to see what has happened in the news, so my new feeds will be handy to have - I just need to check one spot to see what has been published in The Age and other newspapers. I also do a Library Bulletin which lists recent article published in medical journals. I should be able to just check my reader each week and find useful articles instead on the etoc email filling up my work email quota.
The RSS feed section of this course was one of the items that I was very interested to learn about. It's amazing how many pages offer this service and I had no idea how to use it.
I'm still not sure how this will work with our end users and how to make it useful to them. Most of them would have no idea what a RSS feed is.

LibraryThing
This is an amazing site and very easy to use. My address is:
http://www.librarything.com/profile/heatherwalker66
I found postings on some of my books and think it would be a great way to find other authors to read.

Having fun
I used ImageChef for this exercise and it was fairly straight forward. The link was:

and I chose the wave link.

Yipee
Alright! - I finally figured out how to connect an image from flickr to my blog. I might try it again.

Well here it is. I'm hoping this works and appears on my blog otherwise I may start to cry. I thought this picture looked cute after search for 'pelicans', 'Australia' (too many hits) and Melbourne. I ended up searching for 'dogs' and found this one.

Just starting
Hi
My name is Heather Walker. I've just started the Learning 2.0 course. I'm writing this at 9.45pm Friday the 6th March which is the only time I have to do this. I have my iPod playing in the background, and there are no distractions - work or 3 year old son.
